Accounting Associate

Title: Accounting Associate Division: Finance/Accounting Classification: Part-time, non-exempt Directly supported by: Controller Directly supports: N/A Salary Range: $22/hour + DOE About us Since opening in 1982, the HIGH DESERT MUSEUM has brought together wildlife, cultures, history, art and natural resources to promote an understanding of North America’s High Desert country.
We do so through indoor and outdoor exhibits, wildlife in natural habitats, living history demonstrations and dynamic programs on a beautiful, 135-acre campus in the pine forest.
The Museum is a nonprofit organization accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, is a Smithsonian Affiliate, was the 2019 recipient of the Western Museums Association’s Charles Redd Award for Exhibition Excellence and was awarded the 2021 National Medal for Museum and Library Services.
During the 2018-19 fiscal year, 195,000 visitors enjoyed the Museum.
The Museum is located in Bend, Oregon, a fast-growing, charismatic city nestled against the Cascade Range at the eastern edge of the High Desert.

About this job and what you’ll do The Accounting Associate is responsible for daily sales recognition and data entry in and maintenance of the museum’s donor database.
They also process receivables, daily deposits, payroll and other accounting functions as needed.
Your Key Responsibilities Crafting detailed journal entries for revenue that has been recognized.
You will be part of a collaborative team that upholds the financial integrity of the Museum while gaining skills in a thriving and supportive environment.
The museum also provides part-time employees with access to two robust Employee Assistance programs which include free counseling, legal consultation, financial coaching, and other resources.
All employees receive discounts in the Silver Sage Trading Post and the Rimrock Café.
About who you are You have a keen eye for detail and thrive in a process-based environment.
You enjoy keeping a database clean and preach, “garbage in, garbage out”.
In addition to database acumen, you have worked with accounting software and have cash handling experience.
You appreciate working as a member of a team and have found success supporting multiple team members with various administrative functions.
Either by way of your educational background or your work experience, you have strong communication skills combined with a proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet solutions.
