*Full time Certified Veterinary Technician within the Internal Medicine Service* Bend Animal Emergency and Specialty Center is a premier critical care and specialty hospital in Central Oregon.

*About the Position:* We are seeking a full-time Certified Veterinary Technician to join our Internal Medicine team.
* Provides general animal husbandry for the IM service * Must provide compassionate care to patients * Can conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner at all times * Can follow policies and procedures related to hospital and patient safety * Can follow and carryout instructions given by the IM doctors * Maintains laundry for patients * Can collect sterile urine specimens and fecal specimens * Can recognize and report any unusual condition or abnormal patient behavior * Can safely restrain patients * Can submit and run various lab work * Assist with setup of patient equipment and procedures * Able to take and setup patient radiographs and CT scans * Understands and carries out the daily, weekly, and monthly check lists to maintain the IM service and equipment * Maintains inventory of the IM service * Maintains cleanliness and stocking of the IM exam rooms * Assists with processing IM deliveries that are received * Provides patient treatments, runs procedures, and assists with patient intake and evaluation * Assists with cleaning, wrapping, sterilizing, and maintenance of all IM instruments * Processes client’s requests for end-of-life patient remains * Client communication, on the phone and in person * Checking patients in and out of the hospital.
* Occasionally handling some monetary transactions during shift *Shift:* Full-time (36 to 40 hours) benefit position within the Internal Medicine service including min.
two holiday ER coverage days per year *Personal Requirements:* * Minimum of 18 years old * Certified Veterinary Technician associates degree or equivalent OR currently in CVT program * Minimum 1 year working in the veterinary field * Experience in veterinary medicine, working directly with a veterinarian, is required * Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can handle patients compassionately and safely when they are stressed, ill or in pain * Must have the ability to support and foster an environment of diversity, inclusion, collaboration, and empathy * Must have good interpersonal relationship and communication skills * Can multi-task in a fast-paced working environment Is detailed oriented and reliable * Has a high commitment to providing exceptional patient care * Excellent client communication skills * Must be well-spoken, professional, approachable, and maintain an optimistic outlook * Proficient at working with digital records and using Microsoft Word/Excel *Physical Effort:* Work requires lifting, carrying, and restraining animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs), walking or standing for extended periods of time; and frequently working in a bent position.
*Working conditions:* May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises and animal urine, blood, and feces.
May be exposed to bites, scratches, and contagious diseases.
*Compensation:* $25- $32/hr, based on education, experience, and skill level.
