*Qualifications* *Education and Experience* * Bachelor’s degree in HR, project management, business, or relevant field, or equivalent experience preferred.
* 2 or more years preferred in an administrative and/or customer support role preferred.
* Basic knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, employee, diversity, performance management, and federal and state employment laws.
* Professional HR Certification such as SHRM-CP® or PHR Preferred *Job Summary* The Human Resources Specialist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.
This position will also assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations.
*Essential Job Responsibilities* * Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development * Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings * Conducts skill surveys, background checks and employee eligibility verifications where necessary * Develops and conducts new employee onboarding program, ensures all initial training is completed.
* Schedules and participates with employee check in’s and reviews.
* Participates in performance improvement plans including documentation * Maintains all job descriptions for organization * Evaluates company benefits, pay scales, employee handbook, policies regularly and makes recommendations as needed * Schedules and oversees employee recognition/appreciation and event planning * Creates and manages staff schedules, including time off requests * Manages staff call outs and works with department managers as needed * Prepares and audits bi-monthly timecard information for payroll processing including; new hires, terminations, PTO and direct deposit requests * Monitors employed providers PTO- assists with contract questions * Organizes and facilitates annual benefit (medical/dental, 401K) enrollment process, determining employee eligibility and compliance requirements; serves as company contact with third party benefit administrators * Monitors employee license expiration * Oversees workers comp, disability, and unemployment claims * Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate consulting staff * With direction and participation from department manager, attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations * Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
* Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law * Performs other duties as assigned *Physical Demands* The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the role.
