Central Oregon Pediatric Associates (COPA) of Bend, Oregon, Central Oregon’s largest independent pediatric practice, has immediate openings for full time Pediatric Certified Medical Assistant - CMA.
The Pediatric Certified Medical Assistant works closely with, and under the direct supervision of the physician they are working with.
The CMA is responsible for daily patient flow, anticipating the physician’s needs as they relate to the patients care and safely and accurately administering the appropriate treatments as the physician orders them.

The role of the Pediatric Certified Medical Assistant will include but is not limited to the following duties: Maintains an in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, standards, and techniques and demonstrates knowledge in accordance with COPA policies and procedures.
Escorts patients to exam rooms while collecting patient history and vital signs.
Conducts screening tests and other screening tools; grading them as appropriate.
Provides necessary medical information at time of visit.
Demonstrates thorough, concise, and timely documentation in the patient’s medical record related to the care rendered and the patient’s response to that care and in accordance with department and organizational guidelines.
Ability to accurately forecast and administer pediatric immunizations.
Demonstrates EHR efficiency and knowledge.
Demonstrates ability to plan, organize and prioritize care effectively.
Performs appropriate treatments as ordered by the physician in an accurate and timely manner.
Calculates safe medication doses and administers medications following the Seven Medication Rights.
Assists in the monitoring, procurement and proper inventory of supplies and equipment.
Assists with procedures and prepares and sterilizes instruments between procedures.
Maintains own clinical skills staying current in skills, equipment, and trends in nursing.
Assists physician with answering phone requests from patients and or other medical professionals.
Provides phlebotomy services for the patients and families Follows up on orders and outstanding orders for the physician.
Assists in the orientation of new personnel and student practicums.
Assists in providing support and staffing coverage to all physicians and providers at COPA Assists the clinical team by effectively working in the resource staffing position Performs other related work as directed by immediate supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with pediatric experience preferred.
New CMA Program graduates encouraged to apply.
Experience with working with electronic medical records systems, Epic preferred.
Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
Certification: Current Certification from a nationally recognized organization such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), current CPR.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time, walk, stand, and to reach with hands and arms.
The employee occasionally lifts and or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Good auditory health is a must.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Working Conditions: The employee is subject to hazards: including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to mechanical parts and chemicals including odors.
The employee has been identified as having the likelihood of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials, therefore are included in the OSHA Exposure Control Plan with its specification for preventing contact with the above materials.
Travel between COPA clinics and business office as required.
