Posting Ends: 1-3-24 School Year:2023/24 Contract Days:236 Hours per day:8 Exceptional Benefits Salary based on 2022/23 salary schedule JOB DEFINITION: Under general supervision, the Building Maintenance Construction Crew performs skilled work in several trades in the maintenance, construction and repair of buildings, and equipment.
To include roofing, sheet rock, flooring, cabinetry and furniture, concrete work and blinds.
The work requires the use of journeyman's tools and the ability to perform operations in several of the crafts.
The skill required in any one field would be required of a journeyman in that field.
Duties assigned to positions in this classification are performed with greater independence, requiring performance at a higher level of skill.
The Building Maintenance Construction Crew works under the supervision of the Building Maintenance Manager; however, the Building Maintenance Construction Crew will be assigned to lead a crew in the absence of the Building Maintenance Manager.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Maintains and makes repairs to buildings, equipment, furniture, cabinets and grounds.
Uses hand and power tools necessary to perform the duties assigned in a safe manner.
Performs work as determined by work orders.
Assists in the development of plans and specifications.
Operates different types of automotive equipment.
Loads trucks with furniture, building materials or supplies and delivers to destination.
Makes routine adjustments and repairs to equipment.
Works as an assistant to a foreman, performing painting, carpentry, construction or repair work.
Interprets plans and specifications.
Possesses working knowledge of systems, methods, materials and tools of the trade.
Cleans and maintains equipment.
Maintains appropriate records.
Assists other maintenance employees in variety of tasks.
Assists in coordinating the assigned maintenance responsibilities in the absence of the Building Maintenance Manager.
Assists in maintaining an inventory of materials, equipment, and tools necessary to accomplish various jobs assigned.
Fulfills other related duties as assigned.
Fulfills performance standards identified in the evaluation process as required by the position.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This employee can anticipate occasional exposure to inclement weather and unpleasant conditions.
Climbing ladders and working in cramped conditions or small spaces is expected.
The lifting, carrying or maneuvering of heavy objects in excess of 100 pounds is an essential function of this position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge: Operates tools, materials, and equipment, practices methods and knows terminology used in building maintenance work.
Methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery and equipment.
Occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions.
Basic computer skills.
Roof repairs, sheet rock repairs, flooring installation and repairs, construction and repair of cabinets and furniture, cutting and patching of concrete, construction and remodel of existing buildings, repair and installation of mini blinds.
Skills and Abilities: Possess the physical ability to regularly attend work and fulfill the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Read, understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Make mathematical calculations accurately.
Obtain or possess a valid Oregon driver's license and maintain an insurable status for automobile and liability coverage, as required by the position.
Abide by confidentiality requirements.
Adhere to the district requirement for a drug-free workplace.
Communicate clearly and appropriately in speech and in writing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma and four years of advanced training/experience in the specific job requirements.
Comprehensive knowledge of grammar and the ability to use correct speech, compose routine correspondence, and the ability to understand technical instruction is required.
The position requires working knowledge of several technical procedures or work activities.
Some knowledge of School District practices or job routines may be necessary for proficiency.
There is some variety, but procedures are largely repetitive.
Job proficiency can be acquired in six to twelve months.
